Top-level science through the eyes of an expert.
The first Webinar.
The first webinar in the Naked Immunology series took place on March 9, 2022 at 5:00 PM (CET) – 11 AM (EST) and is open to English-speaking participants with a solid scientific background. Featured speaker is globally renowned immunology expert Dr. Nicolas Gaudenzio.
Mast cells are tissue-resident immune cells best known for their detrimental role in allergic disorders via their expression of the high affinity IgE receptor (FceRI). Recently, the discovery of MRGPRX2, as a key receptor that regulates many aspects of mast cell biology, has opened new avenues for the field.
In this webinar we will discuss how skin mast cells integrate different stimuli to regulate their activation program and the consequences on frequent dermatoses. We will also emphasize the importance of bidirectional communications between sensory neurons and MRGPRX2+ mast cells in the development of type 2 immunity-driven skin inflammation.

About the speaker:
Dr. Gaudenzio obtained his PhD in Immunology at the University of Toulouse (France) and his post-doctorate degree at Stanford University (CA, USA). His work has helped to identify molecular and cellular targets involved in allergic and non-allergic inflammation and to develop new imaging methods for neuro-immune interactions in preclinical and clinical models. His current research work focuses on new therapeutic options to modulate and prevent disease.
Dr Gaudenzio is an EAACI and SFI member. He has been published in prestigious scientific journals such as Nature Immunology, the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and many more. In 2021, he received the prestigious ACTERIA Award in Allergology and the Arloing-Courmont-Pasteur Institute Award in Human Biology.
